Railroad Revival Tour

The Railroad Revival Tour was Created by Dave Conway. RRT is a traveling music tour that glorifies the historical romance between trains and music for an experience beyond a standard music event. The tour, launched in 2011, featured Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and Old Crow Medicine Show, traveling on vintage railcars from the 1940's to perform at 6 sold out shows. At each stop, unique event locations are created beside the railroad tracks in carefully selected fields, lots or train stations. The event has been hailed as one of the the most unique American tours in music history. In 2013, the documentary about the train tour, Big Easy Express won a GRAMMY Award. Little Radio Warehouse

The 5,000 sq/ft warehouse was home to the pirate/online radio station, music blog and event marketing company Little Radio. The beloved space housed secret shows by well known bands, regular events, film shoots, tech conferences and private events. Artists such as BRMC, Cut Chemist, the Presets, Charlatans UK, Sonic Youth, DJ Z-Trip, J-ROCC, Spoon, Peaches & many others. The venue, which featured artwork by well-known artist Shepard Fairey, received awards as Los Angeles' "Best Music Venue", "Best Rock and Roll Venue" & was recognized nationally by SPIN and Rolling Stone.

 

The warehouse was also the film location to the Heath Ledger directed Ben Harper video for "Morning Yearning."

Summer Camp

If there was one annual event that Little Radio was known for, it was definitely Summer Camp. The idea behind the event was bringing the beach to downtown Los Angeles. Utilizing the 12,000 sq/ft parking lot adjacent to the warehouse, astro turf was rolled out and a 15' pool and 35' water slides were brought in to help transform the area into an urban oasis of games and fun. Bands played inside the warehouse, while outside, popular DJs spun sunny day music alongside ping pong, badminton, basketball, inflatables and more. The event instantly grew to be one of LA's most cherished events. With the California beaches less than 20 miles away, people found a fun replacement in a downtown parking lot. Regent Theater

In 2009 we moved on from the warehouse event space to take on a new venue challenge, bringing back to life an old forgotten theater on Main St in downtown LA. The theater, once a jewel of the downtown nightlife in the 1940's and 50's, had spent 30 years operating as a XXX before being shuttered for 10 years. With the help of friends and hard work, the theater came back to life under a neon marquee that hadn't been on for over 25 years. We went on to launch the reopen with Edward Sharpe & the magnetic Zeros first shows for the release of their record. Regent events included monthly artwalks, touring shows and a pop record store for Jack White and the White Stripes. See film footage HERE.

Texas Crawfish & Music Fest

The Annual Texas Crawfish & Music Festival takes place in the historic 1900's railroad town of Old Town Spring. At 27 years old, it is one of the the largest and longest running festivals in Houston. In 2013 Craft & Artifact was brought in to help move the festival to a new place both creatively and musically. Craft & Artifact rebuilt the festival from the ground up from branding, marketing, booking and event production. The results broke previous attendance and sales records by 500%, while breathing new life into the Crawfish Festival and the town of Old Town Spring. 

Spaces Office Co-Op

The Spaces Co-Op was a project created to bring like minded businesses together under one roof in downtown Los Angeles. At a time when downtown's residential loft community began to boom, the City of LA was looking to bring new, creative businesses to the area. Starting with an empty warehouse, we built eight identical pre-fab workspaces. Tenants shared a common conference and workspace, while having their own private office. We then invited eight unique businesses to share Spaces together. The result was a creative workspace that fostered a flourishing community atmosphere.

BEATS MUSIC SXSW

Following the launch of Beats Music, Dave was brought on as Event Marketing Director. Beats Music's exposure in Austin during SXSW included partnering with SXSW, Pitchfork Media, Thrasher and others for a week of events. Duties included producing all Beats Music activations during Interactive & Music, staffing event and street team and managing a private VIP event for 100 select tastemakers. 

TOMS SHOES World Sight Day

In 2012 TOMS SHOES enlisted Dave to produce a local event in Austin, TX that would help promote the worldwide campaign to raise awareness about visual impairment. The Concept of the event was to bring together art and music to raise awareness to the fact that there are 85 million people that are visually impaired, and 80% of these cases can be cured or prevented. The event was held at a seldom used outdoor amphitheater, Symphony Square, located along Waller Creek in downtown Austin. A vision themed artwalk was created along the creek, with some of Austin's brightest and best artists. Bands performed on the amphitheater stage while attendees enjoyed drinks and food in the Serrano's courtyard, overlooking the creek.

SXSW

For five years, the Little Radio unofficial SXSW 3-day parties were a mainstay at SXSW. With 30 bands on 2 stages over 3 days, the event drew thousands of people through the doors each year. Sponsored by well known, likeminded national brands the event always featured some of the most sought after acts at the music conference. The event was also the first event at SXSW to offer live streaming of all the performing acts. At first just a live audio stream, later became a video broadcast that netter 18,000 viewers. As Done Waiting puts it, "Little Radio always manages to put on some of the greatest day shows at SXSW". See some of the footage in our film section HERE

Palms Hotel Las Vegas

In 2006 the Palms Hotel completed a $40 million dollar pool and lounge renovation. During the Magic Clothing Trade Show, we worked with brands on an event that showcased new lines of clothing, along with live performances from The Secret Machines, Autolux and Giant Drag. Starting with a fashion show on a floating runway from 7 brands and finishing with live music and DJs, the event brought out fashion and fans alike. See some of the footage in our film section HERE

Holiday Lights Block Party

After taking over the Regent Theater, we began work on a block party event with the largest real estate developer in the area. The idea was to create a holiday event that would showcase the burgeoning urban neighborhood. Shutting down a 2 block radius on some of the busiest streets in downtown, the roads were transformed with stages, beer gardens and local vendors. The first time event drew 10,000 people and raised awareness of the local businesses and new loft residences in the area. The night was rounded out by a large snowball fight in the street, fed by the 30 lbs of fake snow powder that someone (us) left on the sidewalk.
